B/ Suspension porcelain insulator is composed of iron cap (malleable cast iron), steel feet (mild steel) and porcelain parts (or tempered glass). Porcelain and tempered glass are called media. The dielectric used in the manufacture of suspension insulators must have the electrical and mechanical properties required for the operation of overhead transmission lines and be sufficiently stable when atmospheric conditions change. The electroceramics and tempered glass mentioned above are widely used media for manufacturing suspension insulators. Nowadays, composite materials or polymer materials are also used to manufacture insulators and insulating components.
